Yathra – Best Film Award (Srilankan Feature Film)
Young Teresa lives in a fishing village of Sri Lanka with her father and younger brother Antony. Middle aged fisherman becomes interested in Teresa. When denied, later brutally rapes her. Teresa tries to avenge, but fails. Antony, later at night sets fire to the boat fisherman was sleeping, instantly killing him, and runs away. Decades later Teresa becomes a successful Gem businesswoman and a respected social worker. She continues her search to find Antony and maintains a shelter for helpless girls. Meanwhile Teresa receives an international award in Nepal. While in Nepal she meets a monk. Later when she visits the temple, she finds paintings drawn by the monk she saw earlier. Paintings resemble her childhood and Teresa realized the monk she saw is her brother Antony. By that time the monk has already retired into wilderness. Teresa makes a difficult journey to find him. She begs him to return home with her, but the monk refuses, saying “He is unable to return, because he is far from achieving his goal of eternal solace”.
